Biking through Tuscany and Umbria

How does one accurately describe, in capsulated form, a week's worth of biking through one of Italy's most beautiful and varied landscapes? Photos nor words will do it justice but suffice it to say the trip was spectacular not to mention extremely challenging. Did someone say Tuscany has hills? Most definitely! Thankfully our tandem came equipped with disc brakes which slowed our descent but it took "raw" muscle, more developed by day 7, for the ascents! We rode to and stayed in the towns of Montepulciano, Cortona, Montone, Assisi, and Spoleto. Middle Age and Roman architecture abounded in these quaint villages as well as Italian cuisine and rich wines. We traveled with 8 other bikers and 2 tour guides, who were both knowledgeable and fun. Iron Donkey is the company that sponsored the tour. It was such a memorable experience we plan to take other tours through such countries as Ireland, France, Denmark, Portugal, and maybe even New Zealand. Anyone interested in joining us on a bike tour please let us know. We'd love to share these experiences with others!!
